Aurora Alert!

FEBRUARY 10, 2010
We have some guests traveling on our exclusive Aurora Watch package with Dave Parkhurst this week and even though the forecast for northern lights viewing is somewhat low, we are thrilled to report some very exciting news! The first solar flares of the new solar cycle have now begun to produce auroral activiity. The effects of one of these flares arrived on Monday. On the Aurora Forecast web site, click on the "Solar Wind" plot to see a movie of the shock from the sun as it spreads out to the planets. This is a small shock in a slow, low density solar wind so the resulting auroral activity will not be large, but it is good to know that the sun is awake again! Contact the experts at Explore Tours for more information on our unique Northern Lights viewing packages.
