Day 1 · Seward or Whittier Arrival / Girdwood
Meet your driver-guide at the cruise pier where your land journey starts as you travel by private, deluxe coach via Turnagain Arm, a 'National Scenic Byway', winding from the Kenai Peninsula along Cook Inlet. This area, considered a fjord, is covered on both sides by steep mountains and hanging alpine glaciers offering endless photo opportunities. Stop at the Begich Boggs Visitor Center, built on the remnants of a terminal moraine left by Portage Glacier and visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a 140-acre wildlife refuge where you can view wildlife such as moose, grizzly bear, musk ox and more. Experience a unique welcome dinner with a tram ride ending a the 2,300-foot level of Mt. Alyeska where you’ll enjoy picturesque views of Alaska’s vast wilderness and seven area glaciers.
Day 2 · Girdwood / Talkeetna
Spend some time exploring Girdwood on your own this morning. Later continue north to Anchorage and enjoy a gourmet lunch served inside a covered bridge restaurant, spanning above historic Ship Creek, just steps from the best fishing in town. Following your meal, your knowledgeable guide will take you on a private sightseeing tour of Anchorage highlighting areas such as Earthquake Park where ground upheavals remain from the famous '64 earthquake and Lake Hood, the world’s largest float plane base. Admission to the Alaska Native Heritage Center is included this afternoon. Tonight embark for Talkeetna, a colorful and interesting town with breathtaking views of Mt. McKinley and the Alaska Range. Situated over a broad valley where the Susitna, Talkeetna and Chulitna rivers meet.
Day 3 · Talkeetna / Anchorage
The morning is yours to explore this area on foot, taking in the history and culture or the scenery available by trail. You may also opt to take a flightseeing trip around McKinley for an aerial view of rugged mountain peaks and glacier filled valleys. Afternoon return to Anchorage, the ultimate base camp for Alaska adventure. Nestled between the Chugach National Forest and shores of Cook Inlet, Anchorage is a unique urban environment. Alive with arts and culture, this modern metropolis flourishes year-round with gallery lined streets and outdoor displays that showcase the unique works of Alaska's finest artists.
Day 4 · Anchorage
This morning, you are free to explore on your own or choose from an assortment of unique day trip options. Take a guided hike into Chugach State Park, the third largest state park in the nation or choose from an exciting bear viewing excursion to Brooks Falls where the world’s largest population of brown bears can be found. Your day in Anchorage will end with a private transfer to the Anchorage Airport.
