The Main Lodge is a beautiful historic log cabin. The lodge managers are observers for the National Weather Service and report when pilots can fly through the Lake Clark Pass. The small lodge offers dining facilities where delicious meals are served. Coffee and snacks are always available throughout the day at the coffee bar. The Lakeside Cabin has a private bath, two bedrooms and is heated by wood stove.
Go on a narrated walk or take a tour of the lake by canoe. Enjoy a wine tasting on the front porch, get comfortable and make plans with the guides at the lodge for the next couple of days. Because of the salmon population at Big River Lakes, there are many bears in the area. One of the naturalists will take you for an up close and personal, yet safe, viewing of the bears.
There are a lot of photo opportunities with special wilderness photography classes, or you may choose to explore the magnificent Big River Lake area by canoe.
