About Your Stay

After meeting your guides, embark on a full-day Kenai River Canyon raft trip. Watch for moose, bald eagles, spawning salmon, and bears. Cross glacier-carved Skilak Lake to arrive at Kenai Backcountry Lodge.

During your stay, join a guided hike to alpine tundra to photograph wildflowers, take in dramatic views of snow-capped mountains, and seek out resident moose, bears, eagles and caribou. Explore the lake's many beaches and coves by motorboat with your guide. Or enjoy your stay at your leisure, reading historical articles about the lodge, strolling along the lakeshore, or walking the nature trail. If the lake is calm in the evening, some guests enjoy paddling in sturdy touring kayaks. All guests cross the lake after breakfast on their last day.

Two types of cabins are available – authentic Yukon-style Cabin Tents and Log Cabins. Both offer charming indoor amenities, down-home comfort, and heaters to take away the early morning chill. Hot showers and flush toilets are located in a shared bathhouse a short distance from the cabins. Stays are limited to 16-18 guests to ensure your quiet lodge experience. A hydroelectric power system runs the water and electricity, offering a low-impact on the wilderness.

Two and three-night packages are available.

Package Includes:

Transportation from the Kenai Airport to the lodge and return, Kenai River Canyon raft trip, all meals and snacks, all guided activities and programs.

Borough tax, beer, wine, soda, and gratuities to staff are not included.
