North To Alaska

Enjoy this relaxing and adventurous exploration of Alaska by northbound rail

Exploring Alaska by rail is both relaxing and adventurous. Capture magnificent scenery in Denali National Park, enjoy possible views of the majestic Mt. McKinley, and the diverse flora and fauna of Interior Alaska. Visit Alaska’s two largest cities, Anchorage and Fairbanks, and choose from a variety of activities including an optional glacier tour through the Yanert Valley, and shopping and sightseeing in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Not to mention all the wilderness exploration you could wish for!

Itinerary/Details

Day 1 - Anchorage

Arrive in Anchorage where you will be met by a friendly and knowledgeable Explore Tours representative who will review your travel documents with you. Overnight in dowtown Anchorage.

 

Day 2 - Anchorage/Denali

Enjoy an incredible train ride north to Denali. On arrival, you'll enjoy the Cabin Night Theater for a fun-filled evening of laughter and "foot stomping" music. Overnight near Denali National Park entrance.

 

Day 3 - Denali

Travel through Denali National Park on a morning Tundra Wilderness Tour excursion deep into the backcountry of the Park. You may see moose, caribou, fox, and bear. Snack lunch is included. Overnight near the Park entrance.

 

Day 4 - Denali/Fairbanks

Today you may enjoy a hike on your own, Park service activities, or perhaps an optional river rafting or flightseeing tour. In the afternoon board the train to Fairbanks. Overnight in Fairbanks.

 

Day 5 - Fairbanks/Anchorage

Enjoy the day in Fairbanks at your leisure. Opt to add an exciting trip above the Arctic Circle to the "Top of the World" in Barrow or take in some culture with a visit to the Museum of the North. An evening flight from Fairbanks is conveniently included (Alaska Airlines # 52) to allow you plenty of time for connections. Overnight in Anchorage.

 

Day 6 - Anchorage

Enjoy the day in Anchorage. Explore can assist you with a variety of optional excursions from flightseeing to bear viewing or day hikes. Your tour ends here or customize with an extension to see more!
