Enjoy the unparalleled experience that comes with a stay in Denali’s backcountry at Camp Denali or the North Face Lodge!

Ninety miles of unpaved road separate these accommodations from the developed Park entrance. The natural setting and superb location offers the claim to fame of being the only accommodations in Denali National Park that offer views of Mt. McKinley. Your private transfer to the heart of Denali National Park will include narration by naturalist-guides and a picnic supper outdoors at the base of Polychrome Pass.

Itinerary/Details

About your stay:

During your stay, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, Alaskana library, or choose from a number of activity options. With a mission of helping guests enjoy the natural history and wilderness of Denali National Park, Camp Denali and North Face Lodge provide daily, naturalist-led excursions into the various ecosystems of the Park. Three levels of guided hiking are available in addition to canoeing on Wonder Lake, mountain biking, wildlife observation, bird watching, fishing, and unique educational programs.

Minimum stays are three or four nights, but the magnificent setting and the depth of programs offered are well worth a weeklong visit.

Just a mile separates Camp Denali and North Face Lodge. Each has a long history of family ownership and accommodates just 35 to 40 guests, providing an intimate experience. Limited electricity, few telephones, and no TV or bar, ensure few distractions to keep you from exploring the wild lands of Denali National Park.

Camp Denali

Homesteaded by female pilots in 1951, just outside the original park boundary, Camp Denali now features 17 guest cabins surrounded by parkland. Each cabin is carefully situated to capture superlative views of Mt. McKinley and is furnished with a small wood-burning stove, wall-mounted propane lights, homemade quilts, Alaskan artwork, a gas hot plate for heating water, running water outside the cabin door, and an immaculately maintained outhouse nearby. Guests are just a few minutes from a bathroom/shower building with private hot showers, sinks and flush toilets. Cabins are located a short walk from the historic hand-hewn log lodge and informal dining room.

North Face Lodge

Initially established as a home site by a former Park Superintendent in 1957, the North Face Lodge now features 15 guestrooms each with private bathrooms. The rooms connect to a covered walkway that leads to the cozy living room and dining room. Enjoy views of Mt. McKinley and other major peaks of the Alaska Range from the living room or the spacious patio.
