Enjoy this relaxing and adventurous exploration of Alaska by northbound rail
Exploring Alaska by rail is both relaxing and adventurous. Capture magnificent scenery in Denali National Park, enjoy possible views of the majestic Mt. McKinley, and the diverse flora and fauna of Interior Alaska. Visit Alaska’s two largest cities, Anchorage and Fairbanks, and choose from a variety of activities including an optional glacier tour through the Yanert Valley, and shopping and sightseeing in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Not to mention all the wilderness exploration you could wish for!
Itinerary/Details
Day 1 - Anchorage
Arrive in Anchorage where you will be met by a friendly and knowledgeable Explore Tours representative who will review your travel documents with you (meet & greet service optional and not included in package price). Overnight in dowtown Anchorage.
Day 2 - Anchorage/Denali
Enjoy an incredible train ride north to Denali. On arrival, you may choose an evening flightseeing, rafting excursion or enjoy the Cabin Night Theater for a fun-filled evening of laughter and "foot stomping" music. Optional activities can be added to package to personalize. Overnight near Denali National Park entrance.
Day 3 - Denali
Travel through Denali National Park on a morning Tundra Wilderness Tour excursion deep into the backcountry of the Park. You may see moose, caribou, fox, and bear. Snack lunch is included. Overnight near the Park entrance.
Day 4 - Denali/Fairbanks
Today you may enjoy a hike on your own, Park service activities, or perhaps an optional river rafting or flight seeing tour. In the afternoon board the train to Fairbanks. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Day 5 - Fairbanks/Chena Hot Springs
Your Chena Hot Springs day tour begins with a pick up at your hotel this morning. Travel by van to Chena Hot Springs Resort located about 60 miles from Fairbanks. This world renowned resort offers a day of rest and relaxation in a historical location discovered by natives and early miners. Tour includes a visit of the Ice Museum. Don’t forget your bathing suit and towels. Return to your Fairbanks Hotel by 6:30pm this evening.
Day 6 - Fairbanks/Anchorage
Board Alaska Airlines for your flight back to Anchorage this morning. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 7 - Anchorage
