Double the Fun

This unique tour combines one of Alaska’s premier winter events, the Fur Rendezvous festival and Iditarod Sled Dog Race.

Be a part of a variety of exciting winter events! Watch the ceremonial start of the race, enjoy a scenic flightseeing tour, relax at a premier ski resort, and take part in exciting optional activities on your Alaska winter itinerary! You may also partake in many of the scheduled events during the week of the Fur Rondy festival including snow sculpture competition, pony rides, Rondy Carnival, native arts and craft shows and more!

Itinerary/Details

Day 1 Sun, Feb 24, 2013 - Anchorage

Transfer by courtesy shuttle to your hotel in the heart of downtown's exciting business and visitors district. The rest of the evening is yours free to take part in Fur Rendezvous activities. 

Day 2 Mon, Feb 25, 2013 - Anchorage/Girdwood

Head south to Girdwood and begin your day with an optional snowmobile adventure through beautiful snowy meadows, past majestic mountains and over frozen lakes! Check into The Hotel Alyeska for your overnight stay.

Day 3 Tue, Feb 26, 2013 - Girdwood

Free day in Girdwood.

Day 4 Wed, Feb 27, 2013 - Girdwood/Seward

Travel south to the quaint town of Seward.  Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center. Overnight in Seward this evening.

Day 5 Thur, Feb 28, 2013 - Seward/Anchorage

Enjoy some free time in Seward this morning before returning to Anchorage.  Opt for a visit with Iditarod mushers at the annual Musher’s Banquet this evening* or enjoy more Fur Rondy fun!  Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 6 Fri, Mar 1, 2013 - Anchorage

Enjoy free time today for optional activities, Fur Rondy events, or souvenir shopping.  This evening, choose to experience the Anchorage nightlife.  Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 7 Sat, Mar 2, 2013 - Anchorage

Gather in downtown Anchorage this morning for the start of “the last great race on earth”!  Choose to be an “Idita-rider” and bid for the opportunity to ride in the sled with the mushers (optional cost). Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 8 Sun, Mar 3, 2013 - Willow

Drive north of Anchorage to the community of Willow to the site of the restart of the Iditarod Race for a second opportunity to watch the mushers and their dog teams head out on the trail. Overnight in Anchorage.

Day 9 Mon, Mar 5, 2013 - Anchorage

Your tour comes to an end.  Return home and continue to follow the Iditarod race by visiting www.iditarod.com or watch the television news for updates!
