Bears of Katmai National Park - Tour 200

3 Day Wildlife Tour

Katmai National Park is home to over 800 Alaska Brown Bears, the largest protected population in the state. Head for Brooks Camp, on the shores of Naknek Lake above the Aleutian Chain where people, planes, boats, bears, and millions of salmon gather at Brooks Falls. In July, witness the feisty salmon battle their way through the rapids and past hungry bears to jump over the falls on their way to the spawning grounds. Bears fish almost constantly in the months of July and late August as they build up their fat storage before heading into hibernation for the winter.
