February 27, 2008 · Anchorage  

Upon arrival in Anchorage, transfer to your hotel for your four-night stay. Located in the heart of downtown's exciting business and visitors’ district, your hotel offers an unsurpassed location for your Alaskan adventure.  Explore Alaska’s largest city on your own this evening.  

February 28, 2008 · Anchorage              

Today choose to embark on an optional snowmobile tour, dogsled adventure, go skiing, shopping, or participate in one of the many winter activities.  This evening enjoy an optional visit with Iditarod mushers at the annual Musher’s Banquet.

February 29, 2008 · Anchorage-Seward-Anchorage

Travel the scenic Seward Highway, a National Scenic Byway, to the quaint town of Seward.  Enjoy a 2 ½ hour cruise of Resurrection Bay and visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.  Have your camera ready on board the cruise to photograph the spectacular scenery, while watching for whales, puffins, otters, sea lions, and more. Learn more about Alaska’s magnificent wildlife at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.   Return to Anchorage this evening in time to experience the local nightlife.

March 1, 2008 · Anchorage – Ceremonial Start of Iditarod

Gather in downtown Anchorage this morning for the start of “the last great race on earth”!  This unique dog sled race has mushers and their dog teams traveling over 1150 miles of the roughest, most beautiful and rugged terrain Mother Nature has to offer.  Or choose to be an “Idita-rider” and bid for the opportunity to ride in the sled with the mushers (visit www.iditarod.com for more information)!  After watching the start of the race, enjoy local shopping and activities.  Pick up your rental car in downtown Anchorage this evening.

March 2, 2008 · Anchorage - Wasilla - Anchorage

This morning drive 50 miles north to the community of Wasilla, known as the home of the Iditarod. Enjoy this second opportunity to watch the mushers and their dog teams head out on the trail.  (Please note:  weather conditions may result in moving the restart to another location.)  After restarting the race in Wasilla, the mushers leave the land of highways and bustling activity and begin their quest north to Nome!  Pay a visit to the official Iditarod Headquarters in Wasilla, before returning to Anchorage. Return your rental car this evening as your Iditarod adventure comes to an end.  Continue to follow the race by visiting www.iditarod.com or watch the television news for updates!
